Service crash via oversized diagnostics option
Published Dec 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Buffer overflow in Reprise RLM 14.2 allows remote authenticated users with an admin account to crash the service via the web interface. The /goform/edit_opt handler stores option input longer than 1,024 characters without rejecting it, and /goform/diagnostics_doit later processes the oversized value. Administrative access and a diagnostics run are required to trigger the overflow; public evidence demonstrates a fault or crash but not reliable code execution.
