Code execution via unchecked U3D validation return
Published Dec 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Open Design Alliance PRC SDK before 2022.11 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted U3D file. During U3D-to-PRC conversion, the parser fails to check an input-validation function's return value and writes beyond an allocated buffer. Execution requires the malicious file to be converted by an affected process, and resulting code runs with that process's privileges.
