Administrator RCE via email template injection
Published Jan 6, 2022 · Updated Oct 8, 2024
Remote code execution in Atlassian Jira Server and Data Center before 8.13.15 and 8.14.0 through 8.20.2 lets remote authenticated users run code. The Email Templates feature evaluates attacker-controlled template content, but Atlassian has not disclosed the affected code path or validation failure. Jira administrator privileges are required, and successful exploitation executes arbitrary code with the Jira service process privileges.
