CVE-2021-43829Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unrestricted findings import upload

Published Dec 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Unrestricted file upload in PatrowlManager before 1.7.7 allows remote authenticated users to store dangerous files through findings import. The ImportFindingsForm file field in findings/forms.py accepted uploads without validating the filename extension; the fix adds an allowlist for XML, Nessus, and JSON files. Low-privilege application access is required, and a stored dangerous file can enable XSS or other code injection when later processed or viewed.
