Improper permission preservation in containerd 1.5.0 through 1.5.8 allows remote authenticated users to read and write host files. The CRI container creation path indiscriminately relabels hostPath sources mounted at /etc/hosts, /etc/hostname, or /etc/resolv.conf with the container process SELinux label. Exploitation requires Linux with SELinux, the CRI plugin, pod-creation access, and a crafted bind mount; affected files can be read or changed but not deleted.
