Remote server crash via unhandled URL parsing error
Published Dec 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper input validation in Vercel Next.js 11.1.0 through 11.1.2 and 12.0.0 through 12.0.4 allows remote attackers to crash servers. The request handler lets ERR_INVALID_URL or DecodeError exceptions from malformed URL parsing escape instead of returning HTTP 400. Exposure requires Node.js above 15.0.0 with next start or a custom server and no upstream filtering of invalid requests.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
