Privilege escalation via TIF parser use-after-free
Published Sep 7, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
Use-after-free in Adobe Lightroom 4.4 and earlier allows attackers to gain privileges when a victim opens a crafted TIF file on Windows. The TIF parser performs operations on an object without first validating that the object still exists, leaving a freed object in use. Exploitation requires user interaction and affects the current Lightroom process; ZDI reports that code execution requires chaining with another flaw.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
