Browser script execution via uploaded filename
Published Apr 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in CMSimple 5.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a crafted uploaded filename. The file-upload interface accepts a filename containing script markup and later renders that filename without neutralizing it. An authenticated uploader must submit the file and a user must view the resulting page, allowing script execution in that viewer's browser context.
