Unauthenticated content overwrite via unguarded AJAX update
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in N-Media Frontend File Manager Plugin 18.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to overwrite any page or post. The unauthenticated wpfm_edit_file_title_desc AJAX handler passes attacker-controlled file_id, file_title, and file_content values to wp_update_post without verifying ownership, capability, or a nonce. Network access to the WordPress AJAX endpoint is sufficient to replace site content and titles without an account.
