Authenticated settings modification via missing capability check
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in PWA for WP 1.7.32 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to change restricted plugin settings. The pwaforwp_update_features_options AJAX handler validates a nonce available to every logged-in user but performs no capability check. Subscriber-level access is sufficient; published sources do not identify which settings can be changed or any further consequences.
