CVE-2021-43549Network attack vector

Authenticated redirection via stored cross-site scripting

Published Nov 18, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Stored cross-site scripting in AVEVA PI Web API 2019 SP1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to redirect victims to malicious sites. The built-in documentation component fails to neutralize attacker-controlled PI Server content before returning HTML, enabling injected redirect content. Exploitation requires PI Server write access and victim interaction with the affected endpoint; the resulting deception can disclose sensitive information or present false information.
