Unauthenticated file disclosure via attacker-controlled image paths
Published Nov 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in Clustering commit 53e663e259bcfc8cdecb56c0bb255bd70bfcaa70 allows remote attackers to read files via crafted image requests. The /img/path:fpath route in visualize.py derives both arguments to Flask's send_from_directory from attacker-controlled fpath without confining the directory to a trusted base. No authentication or user interaction is required; disclosure is limited to files readable under the server process's filesystem permissions.
