Authenticated database disclosure via incomplete SQL blacklist
Published Apr 20, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
SQL injection in Webtareas 2.4p3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read database data through an approval query form. In the demonstrated endpoint, approvals/editapprovaltemplate.php strips several write-oriented SQL keywords from uq but permits SELECT, IF, SLEEP, and SUBSTRING to reach the database. A valid session and per-request CSRF token are required; the time-based oracle exposes stored hashes and session tokens, while the CVE record instead names editapprovalstage.php.
