Remote shutdown via passwordless administrator login
Published Dec 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Authentication bypass in Canon LBP223 printers allows remote attackers to shut down the device through the web-based System Manager Mode. The System Manager Mode login requires no account password or PIN, grants administrative access, and exposes the shutdown control. Network access to the printer is sufficient; no prior account or user interaction is required, and exploitation interrupts printing by powering down the device.
