Arbitrary WordPress option changes via unchecked AJAX handler
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Advanced Shipment Tracking for WooCommerce 3.2.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter WordPress options. The update_shipment_status_email_status_fun AJAX handler passes attacker-controlled settings_data to get_option and update_option without a capability check, while id selects the value offset to replace. A customer account and an active TrackShip connection are required; successful writes can redirect the site, enable administrator creation, change the administrator email, or deactivate plugins.
