Unauthenticated administrator creation via unchecked role
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in StylemixThemes uListing before 1.7 allows remote attackers to create administrator accounts through AJAX. The stm_listing_register handler accepts a caller-supplied role, creates a WordPress user, and passes that role to wp_update_user without an authorization or capability check. No authentication or user interaction is required, and a successful request grants full WordPress administrator access.
