Stored XSS via unsanitized group fields
Published Jan 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in BuddyBoss Platform 1.8.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run script when a user views a group page. Group creation accepts the Name and Description fields without neutralizing HTML, stores the values, and exposes them to pages or plugins that render group data. An account able to create groups can plant the payload, but execution requires a user to visit a rendering page and often requires a secondary plugin.
