Local privilege escalation via writable execution directory
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Incorrect permissions in Automox Agent 33 on Windows allow local users to execute commands with elevated privileges. The agent creates a temporary execution directory with permissions that let non-administrative users read and write its contents. A local non-administrative account can place or alter content that the privileged agent later executes, resulting in command execution with elevated privileges.
