Arbitrary file write via unvalidated stage counter
Published Apr 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in ThoughtWorks GoCD before 21.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to write files outside the artifact directory. ArtifactsController validates filePath but uses the unvalidated stageCounter value to construct the destination passed to saveOrAppendFile. A compromised or impersonated GoCD agent is required, and the attacker controls file contents and name but not the final job-derived subdirectory.
