Arbitrary file write via stage counter traversal
Published Apr 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in GoCD before 21.3.0 allows remote attackers controlling a compromised agent to upload files into arbitrary server directories. The ArtifactsController upload endpoints accepted an unvalidated stageCounter path component, allowing directory escape while the server retained control of the filename. Exploitation requires a compromised GoCD agent; the demonstrated consequence is arbitrary file placement on the server, without evidence here of code execution.
