Database access via guessable wguest password
Published Dec 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Weak credentials in Kaseya Unitrends Backup Appliance before 10.5.5 allow remote attackers to access its PostgreSQL database. The appliance provisions the undocumented wguest database account with the guessable password wguest, granting entry without a customer-created credential. Network access to PostgreSQL is required; the account has limited database privileges but supplies the initial foothold for a published multi-flaw appliance-compromise chain.
