Command execution via usercustomize startup hook
Published May 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in Anaconda3 2021.05 allows attackers to execute commands when a user opens a terminal or activates Anaconda. Python automatically imports attacker-written code from usercustomize.py in the user site-packages directory during interpreter startup. The attacker must first create that file in the target user's package path; execution then occurs with that user's privileges.
