CVE-2021-4295

External resource access via unrestricted XML entities

Published Dec 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

XML external entity injection in ONC Code Validator API 1.0.30 and earlier allows attackers to access external resources via crafted XML. The documentBuilder bean creates a DocumentBuilderFactory without disabling DOCTYPE declarations, external entities, external DTD loading, or XInclude. Published assessments conflict on the access gate, and the repository does not document whether resolved entity content is returned, bounding the established impact to parser-initiated resource access.
