Unauthenticated command execution via hostTime injection
Published Jun 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in TOTOLINK EX1200T 4.1.2cu.5215 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a crafted hostTime value. The NTPSyncWithHost handler in system.so passes shell metacharacters from hostTime through the cstecgi.cgi management endpoint, as demonstrated by a command that writes process output to a web-accessible file. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation permits commands to read or modify data and interrupt device operation.
