CVE-2021-4289Network attack vector

Authenticated script execution via unescaped AppId messages

Published Dec 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Cross-site scripting in OpenMRS Reference Application Module 2.11 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run script in a browser. UserAppPageController.post inserts the raw AppId into success and failure flash messages without HTML escaping. Administrative access, creation of an app definition, bypass of the disabled Save control, and subsequent message rendering are required; the demonstrated consequence is script execution in that browser.
