Administrative takeover via default privileged account passwords
Published Feb 7, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Hardcoded credentials in Xylem AquaView 1.60, 7.x, and 8.x allow local users to administer accounts and system settings. AquaView provisions standard accounts with known default passwords and retains administrative or SuperUser access for those accounts. An attacker must have local access and valid application authentication; successful use permits account creation or deletion, security-level changes, and credential reuse for further penetration.
