CVE-2021-42809

Arbitrary code execution via unrestricted DLL loading

Published Dec 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

DLL loading weakness in Thales Sentinel Protection Installer 7.7.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary code during installation. Thales identifies improper restriction of dynamically managed DLLs but does not disclose the executable, library name, or unsafe loading operation. Exploitation requires high privileges and user interaction, and successful loading runs attacker-controlled code in the installer context.
