Application crash via unsanitized TextGrid label
Published Dec 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 14, 2025
Denial of service in file_segmenter.praat in Will Styler's Praat Script Collection allows attackers to crash Praat via a crafted TextGrid. The script appends each TextGrid segment label directly to an output filename, so a slash becomes a path separator and causes an immediate crash. Exploitation requires a user to run the script on the crafted TextGrid; the documented consequence is interruption of that Praat session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
