CVE-2021-42725

Code execution via out-of-bounds M4A file access

Published Nov 16, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Memory corruption in Adobe Bridge 11.1.1 and earlier allows attackers to execute code through a malicious M4A file. Bridge’s M4A handling accesses memory beyond the end of a buffer while processing the crafted file; Adobe has not disclosed the responsible parser or operation in greater detail. A local user must open or preview the file, after which code runs with that user’s privileges.
