CVE-2021-42701

Cloud-account takeover via crafted project-file connection

Published Nov 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Modification of assumed-immutable data in AzeoTech DAQFactory allows attackers to capture cloud credentials through a crafted project file. DAQFactory trusts cloud-connection data embedded in the project file and opens that connection, creating a path for man-in-the-middle interception; the affected function and exact validation failure are undisclosed. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted file, and captured credentials allow takeover of that user's cloud account.
