CVE-2021-4269Network attack vector

Authenticated XSS via unescaped title attribute

Published Dec 21, 2022 · Updated Apr 14, 2025

Cross-site scripting in SimpleRisk before 20220306-001 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in a victim browser via a crafted field title. The checkAndSetValidation function in simplerisk/js/common.js inserts the title attribute into a toastr message without HTML escaping, allowing markup to be interpreted when the alert is displayed. Exploitation requires a logged-in user to submit a value that reaches this validation path and a victim to view the resulting alert; impact is browser-context script execution rather than direct server compromise.
