Kernel code execution via unchecked IOCTL arithmetic
Published Dec 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Integer overflow in Accops HyWorks Windows Client before 3.2.8.200 allows local users to execute kernel-mode code via a crafted IRP. IOCTL handler 0x22005B performs unchecked arithmetic on attacker-controlled copy sizes before memmove, allowing a copy larger than its pool allocation. Any local user able to open the USB-redirection driver device can escalate privileges or corrupt memory and crash Windows.
