Authenticated code execution via unsandboxed report templates
Published May 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Server-side template injection in Pentest Collaboration Framework 1.0.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via reports. The generate_report function compiles attacker-controlled report template data with Jinja env.from_string(), while DOCX rendering previously received no sandboxed environment. Project membership and report-generation access are required; successful template evaluation runs code in the server process context.
