Improper access control in MITRE CALDERA 2.8.1 allows remote authenticated users to read and modify administrator-only configuration. The /api/rest configuration handler accepts direct configuration requests from non-admin sessions without enforcing administrator authorization. Valid user credentials are required; exposed data includes API keys and encryption settings, and writable requirements enable chained command execution.
