File disclosure via unsafe SVG parsing
Published Jan 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
XXE in the Debrief plugin for MITRE CALDERA 2.9.0 allows remote authenticated users to read server files through PDF generation. The /plugin/debrief/pdf endpoint base64-decodes caller-supplied SVG graph fields and parses their XML while resolving external entities. Valid CALDERA credentials are required; a crafted entity can embed local file contents in the generated PDF or trigger server-side requests.
