Configuration overwrite via unsanitized extraction path
Published Oct 22, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Path traversal in Emerson WirelessHART Gateway 1410, 1410D, and 1420 through 4.7.94 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite files. The system-configuration extraction logic accepts an unsanitized destination folder, allowing extracted content to replace settings and other key files. A low-privileged account and user interaction are required; exploitation can alter gateway configuration and disrupt key functions.
