CVE-2021-42392Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via unfiltered JNDI lookup

Published Jan 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Remote code execution in H2 Database Engine 1.1.100 through 2.0.204 allows remote attackers to run code through an exposed H2 Console. JdbcUtils.getConnection accepts attacker-controlled driver and database URL values, instantiates a JNDI context, and passes the URL to Context.lookup without restricting remote LDAP or RMI schemes. Exploitation requires the console to accept remote connections without a protective security constraint; successful code runs in the H2 server or hosting web-server process.
