CVE-2021-4228Network attack vector

HTTPS interception via shared default TLS key

Published Oct 24, 2022 · Updated May 5, 2025

Hard-coded TLS credentials in Lanner Electronics Inc IAC-AST2500A firmware 1.00.0 allow remote attackers to intercept and alter HTTPS traffic. The HTTPS interface reuses a built-in TLS certificate and cryptographic key by default, enabling an attacker with the shared key to impersonate the BMC. Exploitation requires a network position between a user and the BMC plus interaction with the impersonated endpoint; the consequence is limited to the confidentiality and integrity of that HTTPS session.
