Code execution via unchecked BMP structure write
Published Nov 18, 2021 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Adobe Animate 21.0.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code when a victim opens a malicious BMP file. The BMP parser inadequately validates user-supplied data before writing past the end of an allocated structure. Exploitation requires the current user to open attacker-controlled content, and resulting code runs in that user's application context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
