Code execution via out-of-bounds EditText read
Published May 31, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Heap-buffer overflow in swfdump in swftools through 20201222 allows attackers to execute code by supplying a crafted SWF file. The handleEditText() function in swfdump.c reads one byte beyond a heap allocation while dumping an embedded EditText tag. Exploitation requires a user or automated workflow to run swfdump against the malicious file; successful code executes with the invoking process's privileges.
