Unauthenticated file disclosure via image asset path traversal
Published May 5, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in MasaCMS 7.2.1 allows remote attackers to read server files through the unauthenticated image asset API. The /index.cfm/_api/asset/image/ endpoint accepts a filePath value containing traversal sequences and returns the referenced filesystem file without confining it to an asset directory. No account or user interaction is required; exposed configuration and application files can be disclosed, while modification and service interruption are not reported.
