Privileged code execution via SMI callback
Published Apr 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper input validation in Lenovo BIOS allows local users with elevated privileges to execute arbitrary code through the SMBIOS event log driver. The SMI callback used by that driver is the affected locus, but Lenovo has not disclosed how untrusted input is mishandled. Exploitation requires local access and elevated privileges; the documented consequence is arbitrary code execution with no further impact detail published.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
