SYSTEM code execution via pipe-client impersonation
Published Oct 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper privilege management in Trend Micro Apex One and Worry-Free Business Security allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. The Security Agent permits an untrusted process to impersonate a pipe client, causing the process to inherit the client's privileged security context. A low-privileged code-execution foothold on a Windows endpoint is required, and successful exploitation grants full SYSTEM privileges.
