SYSTEM code execution via pipe-client impersonation
Published Oct 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Trend Micro Apex One 2019 and Worry-Free Business Security 10.0 SP1 allows local users to execute as SYSTEM. The Security Agent permits an untrusted process to impersonate a named-pipe client, crossing the service's privilege boundary. Exploitation requires prior low-privileged code execution on a Windows endpoint and grants arbitrary code execution in the SYSTEM context.
