CVE-2021-42102

SYSTEM code execution via unsecured OpenSSL configuration path

Published Oct 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Uncontrolled search path handling in Trend Micro Apex One 2019 and SaaS allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM. The Security Agent process loads an OpenSSL configuration file from an unsecured location rather than a protected path. Low-privileged code execution on the Windows host is required, and successful exploitation grants arbitrary code execution in the SYSTEM context.
