CVE-2021-42082Public exploit

Root command execution via upgrade parameter injection

Published Jul 10, 2023 · Updated Sep 22, 2025

Command injection in OSNEXUS QuantaStor before 6.0.0.355 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands as root via its upgrade service. The qs_upgrade.py handler on localhost port 8154 sends the attacker-controlled a parameter to privileged shell processing without rejecting shell metacharacters. A low-privileged account with local host access can invoke the endpoint and run any command with root authority, granting complete control of the storage host.
