Remote denial of service via unauthenticated clients
Published Nov 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Authentication bypass in Barrier before 2.4.0 allows remote attackers to cause denial-of-service via the barriers protocol. The barriers server accepts network clients without verifying their identity, allowing crafted protocol interactions that can exhaust resources or trigger faulty processing. Any attacker able to reach the server network service can interrupt service and may stage follow-on attacks causing information disclosure or integrity corruption.
