CVE-2021-41992Network attack vector

Offline MFA bypass via weak RSA configuration

Published Apr 30, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Cryptographic weakness in Ping Identity PingID for Windows login before 2.7 allows remote authenticated users to bypass offline MFA. The offline authentication flow uses an RSA configuration that permits precomputed dictionary matching; the exact key or padding error is undisclosed. Published assessments disagree on network versus local reachability and required privilege, but the consequence is limited to offline MFA bypass.
