Administrative account creation via missing CSRF tokens
Published Oct 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in webTareas 2.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to create administrative accounts through a victim administrator. The /userprofiles/edituserprofile.php and /users/edituser.php handlers accept state-changing POST requests without CSRF tokens. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to visit attacker-controlled content, after which the server adds a chosen profile and user.
