SMM code execution via unvalidated boot-services pointer
Published Feb 3, 2022 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
SMM memory corruption in affected Siemens industrial computers allows local users with high privileges to execute arbitrary code in SMM. The NvmExpressDxe SWSMI handler fails to validate the EFI_BOOT_SERVICES table pointer, allowing FreePool, LocateHandleBuffer, or HandleProtocol pointers to be replaced with attacker-controlled addresses. Exploitation requires high-privilege execution of untrusted local code and can compromise firmware confidentiality, integrity, and availability beyond the operating system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
